My Story

Hi There…Welcome To Happy Healthy Home!

My name is Christie and I am a Certified Natural Health Professional, Certified Health Specialist and a Doctor of Naturopathy student.  I am also a wife and a mother.

My journey for Natural Health didn’t start at a specific time rather it has become a gradual process over time. After 3 years of infertility, trying numerous medical procedures, medications, surgeries and diet changes, my husband and I were finally able to conceive which resulted in a miscarriage.  After that, we were blessed beyond measure with a full term pregnancy through IVF.  I know what you must be thinking at this point, this Natural Health “professional” relied on medical help?  In short, yes.  I have the upmost respect for medical professionals, when needed, and in fact I needed medical intervention when I miscarried.  I also had a c-section.  During my pregnancy, I was on strict bed rest for my 3rd trimester due to high blood pressure (which I am so thankful my doctor suggested bed rest instead of medication while pregnant).  Therefore, I am very thankful God has blessed medical professionals with the knowledge and wisdom on how to perform some of these issues.

After I gave birth to my son…

I was terrified. Terrified that I couldn’t trust my body. Terrified I had taken my health for granted all those years. Terrified that I would have another pregnancy that would be high-risk. Along with being terrified about my health, I was a new mom. And for all you moms, you know that comes with all sorts of new fears. I was fearful of what I was putting in and on my son’s body. Was it the best of the best? What were the ingredients?  I needed to do my own research, because I didn’t trust another person’s opinion or education to tell me what was safe for MY SON.  God blessed me with him and it was MY responsibility to make sure he was taken care of.  Call me crazy, blame it on the 3 years of infertility, or the miscarriage, the IVF, or the bed rest, the c-section, or call it whatever you want, but I call it responsible and a blessing God was giving me the desire and wisdom to do my own research.

In addition, I was concerned about the rise in food allergies, special needs, eczema (yes, I have dealt with that too), autism, digestive disorders, etc, etc, etc and I wanted to do my very best to understand what I could do within my power to help prevent these issue from occurring with my son. So looking into these issues myself and making INFORMED decisions, I have decided to post some of the questions and topics that I have come across over the past year through the education from medical and natural health professionals as well as through my academic education.  I hope the content is a blessing and benefit to your family as it has been for mine.
